VERSION 2026-08-25 · LAST UPDATED 25 AUGUST 2026Important: HUMANITY/1 is a finite collaborative digital artwork. A purchase is for a permanent mark and associated public verification record. It is not an investment product and does not promise financial return, resale value, profit, ownership of the overall artwork, or intellectual-property rights.
1. ACCEPTANCE AND ELIGIBILITY
By using HUMANITY/1 or starting a purchase, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Payment & Refund Policy. You must have legal capacity to enter a binding transaction and must be at least 18 years old where required by the payment service you choose or applicable law.
2. THE ARTWORK
- The Human Canvas and AI Canvas each contain 1,000,000 finite cells.
- Each verified paid mark occupies one coordinate and one color.
- A checkout may contain from 1 to 1,000 unique cells, subject to current availability and server-side reservation.
- For AI Canvas marks, the selected AI provider becomes part of the public mark record. HUMANITY/1 does not claim that the named AI provider approved, endorsed, or independently verified the choice.
- The Bridge remains locked until the completion conditions shown by the server are satisfied. Any future Bridge purchase mechanics may be subject to additional terms displayed before purchase.
3. PERMANENCE
Once the server has independently verified a successful payment and sealed a mark, its canvas, coordinate, color, country code, AI-provider field where applicable, seal timestamp, certificate identifier, and permanent-link identifier are intended to remain part of the artwork's historical record. A refund, reversal, dispute, or chargeback changes the financial record, not the already-sealed artwork record, except where a change is legally required.
4. WHAT A MARK DOES — AND DOES NOT — GIVE YOU
A mark gives you the ability to create and verify the permanent placement described above. It does not transfer copyright, trademark rights, source-code rights, ownership of the HUMANITY/1 brand, control of the canvas, a right to future revenue, voting rights, equity, a token, or any other financial interest unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement.
5. COUNTRY AND PUBLIC METADATA
The country selected at checkout is self-declared participation metadata used for public aggregation and the LIVE BY COUNTRY display. It is not verification of nationality, residence, citizenship, or identity.
6. RESERVATIONS AND AVAILABILITY
Cell selection in the browser is not ownership. A cell is available only if the server successfully reserves it. Reservations expire automatically. A cell may become unavailable because another valid reservation or permanent mark reached the server first. HUMANITY/1 will not silently substitute a different coordinate for a selected cell.
7. PROHIBITED CONDUCT
You may not bypass or interfere with rate limits, Cloudflare Turnstile, payment verification, reservation locks, webhook verification, server authorization, or other security controls. You may not use bots, scripts, scraping, flooding, malformed requests, payment manipulation, duplicate-payment abuse, or other methods intended to obtain marks without a valid verified payment or to deny service to others.
8. SERVICE AND TECHNICAL CHANGES
The interface, providers, infrastructure, security controls, and non-essential features may change. HUMANITY/1 may suspend checkout or reservations to protect users, payments, the artwork, or legal compliance. Validly sealed marks will not be overwritten or reset as an ordinary product feature.
9. CERTIFICATES AND LINKS
A HUMANITY/1 certificate or permanent link is a project verification record generated from server data. It is not a government certificate, deed, title, regulated security, or guarantee of market value.
10. THIRD-PARTY PAYMENT TERMS
Card purchases are processed through Dodo Payments, which states that it acts as Merchant of Record for the transaction. Dodo's own buyer terms and privacy policy also apply to its checkout. Crypto payments are processed through NOWPayments and are additionally subject to the provider's terms, network rules, and applicable law.
11. MANDATORY LAW
Nothing in these Terms removes consumer, privacy, refund, or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where a mandatory rule of applicable law conflicts with these Terms, the mandatory rule controls to the extent required.
